Stop Press: building work has started. By Christmas, the farmhouse will have been extended so that we will have another large room available for meetings and for daytime and evening meals. |
Wales Rally GB After a gap of several years, the rally returns to the Hafren Forest, Mid Wales in 2008. Cwmbiga is near to the official spectator area for the Hafren Forest stage which is due to take place on 5 December. We still have accommodation available, so early booking is recommended. News from Cwmbiga
For more information about what this means, please visit our new Cyclists / Walkers page. We were very pleased to host a recent meeting run by Tourism Partnership Mid Wales and a two day meeting run by Coed Lleol and the Small Woods Association: for which we provided the presenters and delegates with meeting and breakout rooms, lovely food and overnight accommodation. Your Horse Adventures have approved Cwmbiga as an overnight stop on their Ride Across Wales. We are looking forward to welcoming the next group of riders led by Medina from Brandy House Farm. We now offer an evening meal (3 courses) to guests on the day of arrival at the holiday cottages. All the food is freshly home-cooked and sourced locally where possible. Four riders from Italy, France & Sweden competing in the World Enduro Championships in the Hafren Forest, together with their Italian mechanics, also used Cwmbiga as a base in July. Their sponsor wrote to us after the event to say, "Very nice place and excellent facilities, well received. We would for sure book again." Earlier this year, we were very pleased to host a training day run by Wood Fuel Powys on behalf of Powys County Council - "An Introduction to Modern Wood Fuel Technologies". The Welsh Assembly Government also ran a conference for 30 delegates at Cwmbiga in February. For both events we provided lunch and refreshments, incorporating traditional Welsh dishes and locally sourced ingredients.
Our bees produced
their first honey last year. We gave this pot (the very first)
to Mr Rees (the former owner of Cwmbiga who still lives locally and
retains strong links with the farm) on his 80th birthday. We converted our car to run on liquid petroleum gas last October. Whilst by no means the perfect fuel, powering the car by LPG will reduce its emissions of carbon dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and particulates. |
